City Employee Gets Probation For Theft

The second of two former-Bowdon city employees accused of stealing funds from the clerk’s office back in 2012—agrees to a plea deal in Carroll County Superior Court Tuesday.

42-year old Stacy Folds will serve a maximum of seven years on probation.

Folds is said to have admitted to investigators last year that she took around $30,000 dollars from monies collected by police and the municipal courts.

On Tuesday, folds reportedly showed the court a check for $35,000 for restitution, which the prosecutor said was a factor in her avoiding jail time.

The sentence comes 4-months after another clerk’s office employee was sentenced to 20 weekends in jail and 15 years of probation. As part of her plea, 62-year old Patricia Moore Bentley was ordered to pay back the entire amount she allegedly took from the city: reported as close to $160,000.

Last summer, GBI Special Agent Wayne Smith said there appeared to be no connection between the two cases other than how they took the money.
