Investigation Continues Into Cause Of Fire That Destroyed Home Of Candidate For Mayor

Haralson County Fire continues to investigate a fire that completely destroyed a house owned by the woman who hopes to be the City Of Temple’s next Mayor.
Karen Powell qualified for the race Tuesday.
Saturday night, a home she owns off Old Bremen Road—just across the Haralson County line -- was destroyed by fire.
No one was home at the time of the incident. However, Haralson County Fire Chief Brian Walker says one of his firefighters is recovering from injuries he received while working the blaze. Walker says some debris fell on top of the fire fighter and left him with third degree burns to the back of his neck. He is still being treated.
Walker says investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. They have called on state fire investigators and the ATF to help with the investigation.
