Nine Qualify For Municipal Races On Day Two

Tuesday was another active day for qualifying for November’s municipal races in Carroll County.
There were not any qualifiers for the city council races in Bowdon on Monday. But, day two saw City Council Ward 4 incumbent Marty Johnson put in the paperwork. 65-year old retired educator, Jan Rowland Johnson qualified yesterday to run for the City Council Ward One race.
Three more people qualify for City Council races in Mt. Zion Tuesday. Post 3 incumbent Andrew Lee Richie is seeking another term. Marty Spruill—a 40-year old employee of J-and-B Construction also qualified for the Ward Three race. Post-4 Councilman Robert Mullenix qualified to seek re-election.
The race for Mayor of Temple now has three candidates. Business owner Karen Powell threw her name into the ring Tuesday.
Howard Walden is so far the lone qualifier for Temple’s City Council Ward 2 race.
The Mayor’s race in Whitesburg will have at least three candidates. Freelance writer Rosa Ann Crowder qualifying Tuesday. Whitesburg City Council post-4 incumbent Wayne Posey qualified to seek re-election.
Today is the last day to qualify for a municipal race in Carroll County. The registration book closes at 4:30 this afternoon.
Municipal elections this November are scheduled in Bowdon, Carrollton, Mt. Zion, Temple, Villa Rica and Whitesburg.
