Qualifying For November Election Starts Monday

Qualifying for two seats on Carrollton’s City council begins next Monday. One of the incumbents confirmed this week that he plans to seek re-election.

Ward 1 Councilman Gerald Byrd has sat in the chair to the far left of the Mayor since 2001 when he was elected to fill the un-expired term of deceased council member Anne Sheppard. He ran unopposed for Ward One in November 2009 and was re-elected to a third term.

The Ward-Two seat is currently held by Mike Patterson. He confirmed this week that he will seek a second consecutive term on council.

In a press release this week, Patterson said he would like to stay involved in the numerous ongoing projects within the city and encourage new ones “as the economy of the area rebounds and we begin to see growth again.”

Qualifying for a number of municipal elections in Carroll County is next week.
