School Buses Now Equipped With Panic Buttons

Every school bus in the Carroll County School System is now equipped with a “panic button.”
“It’s called an eTrac—it’s a panic button. All of the bus drivers are wearing them on a lanyard around their neck,” says Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, David Goldberg. “It send GPS coordinates, text message, e-mail… to let our first responders know that there is an emergency and lets them know exactly where (the emergency) is. It’s another layer of protection for our students and our bus drivers and it’s going to be very good for our safety program.”
Beginning last year, Carroll County buses were equipped with arm cameras to deter other drivers from passing when the bus is stopped to pick up students.
