West Georgia Tech Men's Hoops Signs Eleven in 2013 Recruiting Class

CARROLLTON, Georgia – West Georgia Tech men's basketball coach Niki Okolovitch welcomed eleven incoming freshmen and transfers, which will make up his 2013 recruiting haul, at a signing ceremony on the Murphy Campus in Waco Tuesday morning.

Highlighting the class is D'Meco Rozier, a transfer from Middle Georgia Tech who earned Region 17 Division III Player of the Year honors after averaging 15 points, four rebounds and four assists per game as a freshman last season.

Also transferring in are two Villa Rica High School standouts, shooting guard Dee Thompson and forward Orlandis Hill.

Thompson comes to WGTC after one season at Belmont-Abbey College. Hill played last year at NJCAA Division I member Snead State (Ala.), where he averaged 15 points per game.

Incoming freshmen include three guards and five forwards.

The guards are Chaston Talley (point guard, Sound Doctrine Prep, 15 points and 3 assists per game), Elijah Edgeworth (shooting guard, East Paulding, 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists per game) and Devante Orebeau (point guard, Douglas County, 10 points, 4 assists, 3 steals per game).

The forwards include David Mercer (SF, Douglas County and Valdosta State), Damon Pearson (SF, Heard County, 15 points and 13 rebounds per game), Xavier Jennings (SF, Atlanta Sports Academy, 8 points 3 rebounds per game), Trey Young (SF/PF, Pebblebrook) and Kyle Edwards (SF, Chapel Hill).

The 2013 class will join a solid nucleus of returning players from last year's squad which finished 18-16 overall and played for the District 7 championship after winning the Region 17 Tournament for the second consecutive year.

Okolovitch indicated that he will sign a couple more players before closing out the recruiting class.
