Comet Pan-STARRS Available for View March 14 & 15
 
CARROLLTON, Ga. – According to Dr. Bob Powell, Professor and Chair for the University of West Georgia Physics Department, the comet identified as Comet Pan-STARRS was observed from the West Georgia Observatory on Tuesday, March 12. If the sky remains clear, the public is invited to view the comet in the observatory on March 14 and 15 from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
 
On Tuesday, Powell, UWG Physics Department staff and observatory assistants located Comet Pan-STARRS via telescope at 8:15 p.m. They were able to view the comet for seven minutes.
 
The West Georgia Observatory is located on the University of West Georgia campus and offers public viewings once a month. Upcoming viewings are on April 8 and May 6 from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
