Villa Rica is receiving half-a-million dollars in federal and state grants to redo the water mains and services in the Thomas Dorsey and Spring Street area.

City officials were informed that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs awarded the CDBG application for 2012. 

City Manager Larry Wood said Friday that the completed project would bring improved fire protection, better water quality, higher water pressure and a more reliable water system in that area.

The total project cost was estimated at $781,433.
