Multiple news outlets are reporting that a Villa Rica man has been arrested following the altercation that occurred in the parking lot of the Georgia Dome after the San Francisco 49ers' 28-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Sunday's NFC Championship game.
46-year old James Lewis McCoy was reportedly arrested Tuesday in connection with the altercation which left a 35-year-old male in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The stabbing happened around 6:40 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot outside the Georgia Dome.
Although initial reports indicated the incident was a dispute between “football fans,” officials Tuesday said neither McCoy nor the stabbing victim attended the game. They believe the stabbing may have stemmed from an argument over food during a tailgate party.
