VFW Not Closed; "Under Suspension"
A state official with the Veterans of Foreign Wars said Thursday that the Carrollton VFW post is not closed, despite a sign posted on the door reading that the “post is closed due to violations of fraternal regulations of the VFW-- ordered by the department trustees.”
“What has happened is that the VFW in Carrollton… their operations were suspended due to fraternal reasons,” State Adjutant for the VFW Department of Georgia, David Pipes said Thursday. “The property still belongs to the local VFW there—all the fairgrounds and everything, but their operations have just been suspended including/up to 90 days and the property is not for sale.”
Pipes says that he believes previous erroneous information may have been released by disgruntled former members.
He would not elaborate on what the reasons were that brought about the suspension.
