Regional Weather Update (12:00p)
According to the National Weather Service as of about 11:00 this morning, our listening area is in a winter weather advisory.
What that is calling for is a good chance we will see some black ice beginning this evening mixing with snow showers. We could see a total of about ½ inch of snow by morning.
But, the concerns with this weather activity is of course the black ice on the roads and some windy conditions… winds steady at about 15 miles per hour throughout the day then gusts of up to 30 mph this evening.
Temperatures will start to dip a bit at around 7:00 tonight.
By 10:00 we should start to see some snow
And by 1:00am Friday morning the precipitation should be out of our area.
But… that does leave the black ice on the roads and the potential for some dangerous driving in the morning.
Local emergency responders and road crews are already on stand by and ready to remedy what ever issues they can, but probably not a good idea to be out on the roads late this evening or early tomorrow. Villa Rica is already talking about salting their overpasses and some roads.
Temperatures are expected to be above freezing by around 9:00 tomorrow morning then high temps on Friday afternoon in the 50’s.
