MONTGOMERY GENTRY TO PERFORM AT 2013 BLACK TIE & BOOTS

Dust off your cowboy boots August 10 for West Georgia Technical College’s annual fundraiser Black Tie & Boots featuring Montgomery Gentry.

“We are excited to have Montgomery Gentry as this year’s Black Tie & Boots headliner,” said Dawn Cook, VP of Institutional Advancement. “The community has come to expect this event to be an unforgettable evening and this year will not disappoint!”

The country duo follows the footsteps of Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Gary Allen, and last year’s performer Little Big Town who all have rocked the stage at the Murphy Campus.

Montgomery Gentry burst into the music scene in 1999 with their single “Hillbilly Shoes.” The Kentucky natives, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, went on to produce fourteen Top 10 singles, including five No. 1s, “Something To Be Proud Of,” “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” Lucky Man,” “Back When I Knew It All” and “Roll With Me.”

Despite the millions of albums sold, the sold-out shows and the scores of awards, Montgomery Gentry remains in touch with its working class roots.

“We are blue collar workers and we lived the songs that we sing,” said Gentry.  “Because of that, our fans are able to make the connection and when they hear our songs, they know we are singing with passion and we know what we are talking about.”

The concert includes a seated meal at 7 p.m. with the concert beginning at 8 p.m. Attendees are treated to valet parking, a professional photographer, and a walk on the red carpet. Corporate sponsorships which include concert tickets and admission to a ‘meet and greet’ reception with Montgomery Gentry are available for purchase now. A limited number of individual and group tickets will go on sale July 1 at $125 per person or $950 per table.

Though Black Tie & Boots has become one of the most highly anticipated events in West Georgia, its purpose remains the same. In past years, $20,000 in student scholarships was awarded because of Black Tie & Boots and events like it.

“Black Tie & Boots is one of our premier fundraising events of the year,” said Cook. “The proceeds go toward student scholarships, program improvements, facility upgrades and faculty development.”

“The West Georgia Technical College Foundation is committed to supporting the College and its initiatives,” said President Dr. Skip Sullivan. “The support of this event helps to make a difference in the lives of our students, faculty and staff and in our communities.”
