Carrollton, GA -- The Grisham family received recognition from the Carrollton City School board Tuesday evening for their continued involvement with the city school system.
What began in 1999 as a small scholarship for athletes now has a golf tournament and is jointly sponsored by the athletic booster club and the CES Education Foundation to give $1500 to one male and one female high school athlete in memory of the legendary head football coach and athletic director, Charlie Grisham.
Qualified applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average and have lettered in at least two varsity sports. They must also write an essay entitled "What Being A Trojan Means To Me" and provide at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, pastor or employer.
The foundation's scholarship committee selects each year's recipient. Deadline for the scholarship is in March with the recipient to be awarded at the annual honors night in April.
