Should Carroll Consider 'Smoke-Free' Parks?; VR Discusses Smoking Ordinance

With Cobb County considering a ban on smoking and tobacco use in all 77 of it’s parks and recreation areas, a WLBB reporter asked Carroll County Commissioner Ashley Hendrix if she could be open to approving a similar law in Carroll County. “I think that before Commissioners could begin (talks on the subject), it would be nice to receive public input. I personally would be in favor of it. I am a non-smoker,” says Hendrix. “I know that Douglas County and Douglasville have non-smoking parks. It may be a trend for the future and something to consider should it ever come up.”
Meanwhile, Villa Rica city council is expected to consider an ordinance concerning smoking in public buildings and events. Officials hope to review ordinances in place in other municipalities and discuss with local businesses. Council expects to discuss the issue publicly at the regularly-scheduled March meeting.
