CCWA Offering Incentives To Well Users

Carroll County -- Carroll County residents can expect to receive notices in the mail advertising new incentives for well users to make the switch to county water service after a resolution passed Thursday by the Carroll County Water Authority.
“Since we expanded the system so much over the last few years— about 50 miles of water line— we’re going to try and focus on existing residents that live within the boundaries of the system but are not utilizing the water system and provide a reduction in cost to tie to our system,” says CCWA Executive Director Matt Windom. “For the remainder of this year, we’ve laid out a plan to reach out to those customers, provide them incentives—basically, pay some money down, pay the remainder of 24 months, if they wish; but that’s after we give them basically a $625 reduction in the cost.”
Windom says the plan would be to offer a reduced initial payment and payment deferred at a monthly rate in addition to their water bill to encourage potentially 1000 new customers to the county water authority.  If residents are not near an existing main, there will be an $800 fee to extend that water main.
