Open House Tonight For HC Schools Charter Plan
The Haralson County School System begins the process of transitioning from a traditional public school system to a charter school system. The first of three town hall meetings is scheduled for this evening to address the concerns and questions of parents and teachers.
“Two of the more important things moving forward with the charter school system application petition process are building in flexibility and providing more opportunities for internal and external stakeholders to be a part of the governance process concerning the operations of the school system,” says Haralson County Schools Superintendent, Brett Stanton. “Another important part of this (process) is having the town hall meetings and meeting with our schools and school councils to share the information regarding our desires to move forward and become a charter school system with the approval of our charter school application and petition.”
Tonight’s town hall meeting is from 7:00 in the Haralson County High School fine arts building. Two more to follow include February 29th at West Haralson Elementary and March 1st at Buchanan Elementary.
Stanton says the charter school petition will be submitted by September 1st, hopefully allowing for charter school approval by January 2013.
