A Lamar County man announces his intent to challenge a three-term Congressman. Retired Lt. Col. Kent Kingsley announced himself as a Republican candidate for Georgia's 3rd District seat, currently held by U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland.
Kingsley says he will focus on three key areas: passing a balanced budget amendment, enacting the Fair Tax and implementing federal term limits for members of Congress.
Georgia's 3rd Congressional District covers thirteen counties inlcuding Carroll, Coweta and Heard.
According to open records, Westmoreland so far has raised about $500,000 for this year's campaign.
The State Primary Election is July 31st.
