Representatives from four state agencies worked with local tourism industry leaders this week to assess the portfolio of tourism-related assets within the community. Carrollton-Area Convention & Vistor's Bureau Executive Director, Johnathon Dorsey says the visit will result in a report that inlcudes the potential for utilizing tools from cultural & heritage tourism district zoning and downtown development programs to historic preservation and economic development tools such as opportunity zones. "Of course, the ultimate goal is to make our destinations more attractive to the visitor and bring more visitors, which brings their money and improves the local economy," he says.
The report is expected in two months and includes an inventory of resources and a 24-month strategy for initiating the development of a tourism-based economy in Carrollton and Carroll County.
