Car Chase/ Suspect Fires Shots At Officers

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alexander (Alex) Davis during the early morning hours on Sunday following a vehicle chase, shots fired and a chase through the woods. Davis is accused of taking a family members vehicle after breaking into their home and taking the keys at gun point. After Davis took the keys he led officers from the Georgia State Patrol and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on a short case, while firing shots at them from the moving vehicle. Davis also shot in the direction of the officers and others. The investigation has also revealed a second residence and vehicles that were damaged by gunshots. Investigators believe that this was most likely the start of the chain of events that Davis is accused of. Davis is currently in jail for numerous counts that include aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer; armed robbery; hijacking of an automobile; burglary, and other charges as they relate the chase and events that transpired.

At this point investigators have not developed a motive. Alcohol and drugs are believed to have been involved.

Although the potential existed, no serious injuries resulted. Some of the family members that tried to stop the theft of the vehicles received some injuries during their attempts to stop him from attempting to steal one vehicle and the actual theft of the second.

Davis was denied bond at his first appearance hearing and remains in the Carroll County Jail.
