The Food Lion grocery store on Maple Crossing in Carrollton is one of 113 reportedly “under performing” stores in the chain, announced to be closing this week. The 2-year old store located near the Maple Street-Highway 166 bypass intersection is one of a handful of west Georgia Food Lions to be shut down, inside of 29 in the state of Georgia. Parent company, Delhaize America calls the closings “key strategic decisions focused on strengthening the Food Lion banner.”
The Carrollton location which currently employs about 50 people, will close it’s doors for good next Wednesday, January the 18th. Until then, the store is cutting down operating hours.
Other area Food Lion stores affected by the closings are located in Douglasville, Dallas and two stores in Newnan.
