Carroll County home foreclosures were down 16.25% last year from 2010, according to year-end figures released this week by online foreclosure reporting service, Realty-Trac. Experts are quick to point out that there were several months during the last year where banks held off on foreclosures to make sure all their paperwork adhered to federal standards. This could result in a boost of reported foreclosure activity in 2012.
In 2011, Carroll reports 1,989 foreclosure filings or 1 in every 23 homes. The county ranked ninth statewide in foreclosures.
Haralson county reports 312 foreclosures last year or 1 in every 39 homes. Haralson ranked 30th in Georgia during 2011.
