The father of a Temple teenager who survived a nearly 100 foot fall from a train trestle in Virginia just over six weeks ago is calling her recovery a miracle, according to an article in the Richmond Times Dispatch. Brian Ashbaugh’s teenaged daughter Julianne, who attends Liberty University in Virginia, had been out with friends stargazing in mid-November, when the five students had been surprised by a train on the river-spanning trestle. Ashbaugh fell to the riverbank as the train passed and reportedly suffered two broken wrists and internal bleeding.
The father tells the Virginia newspaper that it’s a blessing that his daughter is able to return to her musical passions—piano and guitar—as her recovery progresses. He says, “that was a fear all along, that she may not be able to play again.” The teen-aged Ashbaugh is a worship ministry major in the honors program at Liberty University.
