Twelve fatal crashes in the state of Georgia during the New Year’s travel period-- one in Carroll County on Georgia 101 at Old Draketown Trail Saturday. Georgia State Patrol Public Information Officer, Gordy Wright says a Ford Explorer was northbound on 101 and failed to yield while turning left.
While turning, the Explorer struck a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle is identified as 59-year old Donald Robert Wright from Villa Rica. His injuries were fatal.
Georgia State Patrol charged 43-year old Shelly Mae Leonardo of Carrollton with second degree vehicular homicide and failing to yield while turning left, according to Wright.
