Perhaps, whoever purchased that unclaimed $77M Powerball ticket in west Georgia this summer has it wrapped up in a box and placed under their Christmas tree as a gift to their spouse this weekend. There aren’t too many happy potential-explanations as to why that huge pay-off has yet to be pocketed.
The deadline for claiming the prize is Monday December 26th. The Georgia Lottery headquarters will be closed Friday through Monday, but the owner of the ticket can claim their prize at the Georgia lottery kiosks at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. According to the Georgia lottery, the powerball ticket was sold at the pilot travel center on Georgia highway 100 in Tallapoosa on June 29.
If the prize goes unclaimed, the Georgia lottery says the funds will be returned proportionately to each participating state based on the state's sales for that drawing.
