Full-time city employees in Villa Rica will be getting $500 bonuses this year after city council votes not to override the mayor’s veto of the council-approved $1,001 bonuses. The bonus is still more than the $200 budgeted for the current fiscal year this past spring. Councilman Patrick Hendrickson’s vote Friday gave the mayor’s plan a 3-2 edge in denying the veto override. Hendrickson had initially voted for the $1,001 dollar bonus against the will of the mayor but now says he has received an overwhelming response from city tax-payers which led him to change his initial decision. Part-time city employees receive a $100 bonus this Christmas.
