Tallapoosa -- The crash occurred around 8:35 on White Street in Tallapoosa and resulted in one fatality and one injury.  A 2005 Dodge Stratus being driven by Shawn Melvin Norton, age 34, from Tallapoosa was northbound on White Street when he clipped the rear corner of a pick-up truck and then struck a tree with the passenger side of the vehicle.
A rear passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.  He is identified as Benjamin Shane Cook, age 34, from Tallapoosa.  A front seat passenger, Allyssa Holtsinger, age 23, from Tallapoosa, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.
Norton was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
