Former Congressman Bob Barr on Tuesday said he will not challenge U.S. Representative Tom Graves for the newly drawn 14th congressional district in the northwest corner of the state. Barr says he will instead back Graves in his attempt at seeking his first full-term as Congressman.
The 14th district which includes Haralson, Floyd and Polk counties was created when Georgia’s congressional districts were redrawn in a recent legislative special session to add in a new U.S. House seat in north Georgia. As a result, Representative Phil Gingrey’s territory shifts more toward the center of the state and Graves' district shifts to the west.
