Carroll County school officials say they expect the Mt. Zion High School stadium project to be complete by January. The stadium lights have been installed and workers will now focus on laying the new field sod and track base as weather permits.
The new Temple High School gymnasium is anticipated to be complete by August of next year. Preparations for the footings and foundation are underway. The footing and concrete retaining wall adjacent to the existing gym has been poured and the front walls are expected to be next.
The Villa Rica High School gymnasium is anticipated to be complete in November of 2012. Rough grading and utility work has begun and footings are expected to be dug this week. The existing stadium lights have been relocated to the practice field.
Also at Monday’s work session, the Carroll County School Board approves J & R Construction out of Carrollton to build the new College and Career Academy addition. J & R reportedly had the highest scored proposal which also included the lowest bid. The recommended total contract sum is $1.74M.
