On 11-15-11, at 1:27 PM, a female entered the United Community Bank on Hwy 78 and cashed a check which was later found to be stolen and the signature forged. Video was obtained from the bank’s surveillance system showing the vehicle and the female who cashed the stolen check.
Detective Eddie Thompson was assigned the investigation and through excellent work discovered that the female cashing the check used a driver’s license that had been reported lost by another person. The subject also used a wig to disguise herself and make her look more like the photo on the license.
On 12-01-11 Detective Thompson and Captain Keith Shaddix located the female off of Mann Rd in Douglas County. The subject was arrested and identified as Yvonne Michelle Ghea, 32 years old, from Villa Rica. Ghea was charged with Forgery 1st Degree and Financial Identity Fraud.
Captain Shaddix said “I want to thank Detective Thompson for the fantastic job he did with this investigation. I know that he worked for two weeks to identify and find the suspect during which time he conducted numerous interviews. It would have been easy for a less experienced detective to have given up on this case.”
