Life-Saving Hero Learned To Be Felon On-The-Run



The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a Georgia (Sex Offender) Fugitive has been arrested and is being detained by the police in Hamden Connecticut.
Authorities from Hamden Connecticut contacted local authorities after they received information that Michael Patrick Rogers who was wanted in Georgia for a violation of probation had been arrested by their agency.
According to the information provided, Rogers first came into contact with Connecticut authorities in September after he was jogging and stopped to rescue a drowning 16 year (suicidal) female from a lake near the road. Reports indicate that Rogers scaled the fence and eventually pulled the 16 year old from the murky lake water and carried to her to shore. Rogers also returned and helped a police officer from the murky water and mud who had arrived to assist and had become stuck himself.
Rogers originally told the Connecticut authorities and others that his name was Michael Patrick. After Police learned of his real identity he was questioned and taken into custody.
Rogers was originally arrested in 2000 for Rape, Aggravated Sodomy, and several counts of Child Molestation. In 2001 he entered into a negotiated (Alford v. NC.) plea to 5 counts of Child Molestation where he received a 15 year combined prison / probation sentence. In 2005 he violated the terms of his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest through the Superior Court of Carroll County.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has placed a hold and is making arranges for his return.
Rogers has waived extradition.
