Area Traffic Fatalities Investigated

The Villa Rica branch of the Georgia State Patrol dealt with fatalities in four crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday. In one of those investigations they need the public’s help while another crash claims the life of a local high school student.

GSP/PIO Gordy Wright says 24-year old Kyle Alden Lee of Temple died in a crash on Sandhill Shady Grove Road Sunday afternoon when his Toyota Yaris left the roadway and struck a tree. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen a white Mazda 626 in the area around 3:00 Sunday or anyone who may know the identity of the Mazda driver, only described as black male with dreadlocks, to contact GSP Villa Rica at 770-459-3661. Troopers say they want to interview the driver as a possible witness to the crash.

Also, a 16-year old driver from Carrollton faces charges of failure to maintain lane following an accident late Friday on Stripling Chapel, after his vehicle hit a light pole then a brick wall. 15-year old Alex Goolsby was killed in that crash while the driver and another passenger were taken to Grady Medical with injuries.

A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a 61-year old Douglasville woman Thursday evening. The accident happened at the roundabout at Georgia Highway 5 and Georgia Highway 166. Helen Collins was traveling north on GA 5 and traveled through the roundabout, striking a brick retaining wall.

A 47-year old motorcyclist from Carrollton was fatally injured Thursday afternoon. Reports indicate that James Kenneth Williams lost control of his 1996 Honda in a curve on Sandhill Hickory Level Road north of Hominy Creek Road. The motorcycle then left the roadway and hit a guardrail.
