Renovating The Historic Court House
Carroll County Commissioners will be considering bids for revised renovation plans for the Carroll County Historic Courthouse. What the building will be used for next, following the completion of the new courthouse, is up to the County Commission Board.
Project Manager Randy Simpkins says current renovation plans include "putting in energy efficient windows." He says, "Some of the walls have separated over the years, there is alot of limestonme restoration that had to be done." Simpkins says bidding on all the exterior issues will be brought before the board of commissioners in early December.
"The original package included inside areas that needed to be changed and completely re-done," says Simpkins. "That came in over our budget, however--- and as more funds are dedicated by the board to do such, we can do things on the interior."
Simpkins says by not completing interior renovations at this time, the board will have more flexibility in considering how the building can be used in the future.
