Georgia Congressman Lynn Westmoreland is co-sponsoring a bill to close a tax-loophole that reportedly allows illegal aliens to collect $4.2 Billion annually in tax payer dollars through the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). The bill, introduced last week by Jack Kingston (R-GA) would prevent illegal aliens from obtaining the tax credit by requiring that individuals who claim the credit provide a valid social security number. Currently, the IRS only requires individuals provide an taxpayer identification number.
