Carroll County voters will likely not be voting on the 2015 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax proposal in 2012, after Commission Chairman Bill Chappell says he plans to drop efforts to put a referendum on the March ballot. Chappell says he believes there was not enough support from county commissioners to have it on next year's ballot. He has previously suggested a preference to have the county SPLOST on the March 2012 ballot so that the Transportation SPLOST to be voted on in the Summer of 2012 did not discourage voters from OK'ing the 1-cent tax for county-specific projects.
