Visitors Bureau launches new tourism mobile application

The Carrollton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau announced this week that a free mobile device application it has produced featuring Carrollton/Carroll County tourism information is now available for download at the Apple App Store.

The application, or “app” for short, is built around a map with lodging, dining, shopping, events, attractions and other visitor information available at the touch of the screen of an Apple mobile device like iPhone or iPad. The app can be filtered to show just one category of locations, all of them or a combination, with each location expandable to the visitor by simply touching the locator button on the map.

“We’re excited to have this new way to put our community’s attractions and amenities literally in the hands of our visitors,” said CVB Executive Director Jonathan Dorsey. “There’s always a need for printed brochures and visitor guides, but now we also have this fantastic marketing tool to help us promote our area as a destination to the growing segment of travelers using mobile devices.”

Dorsey said the app contains links to many websites including the CVB’s at www.visitcarrollton.com, making the app a fully-integrated component of the CVB’s online marketing strategy. A version of the app for Android mobile devices will be available soon.

The CVB created the app with local developer Matt Greene.
