Where The CCBOE Is On The 2012/13 Budget

The Carroll County School board will not discuss a tiered list of proposed cuts for the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget until mid-January, although school Superintendent Scott Cowart insists the system is way ahead in the budgeting process than they were this time last year, when facing the current budget.

Chief Financial Officer Greg Denney says he is now studying early enrollment projections, studying the pros and cons of outsourcing services and reviewing classified personnel positions for ideas to generate budget savings for the next year.

In holding off until January to publicly discuss the tiered lists of cuts, Superintendent Cowart says by that time clearer enrollment numbers will be available, governor Nathan Deal will have given his state budget speech and he says “We want to get our employees through the holiday season with-out the burden of this.”
