No west Georgia child should have to wake up Christmas morning to an empty stocking hanging from the mantle. That's been the drive of the Carrollton Empty Stocking Fundraiser for the last sixty-five years. The big annual event is this Thursday. Tickets are $35 per person and the evening includes hors d'oeuvres, live music, a cash bar, door prizes and live & silent auctions.
Carrollton Evening Sertoma member, Rebecca Smith says the last two of these annual fundraisers have benefitted close to eight-hundred area kids. "We're really blessed to be in this community. We have a lot of support from these people. She says, "The needs list presented by the schools is estimated to be quite high this year. It's a mixture of low-income and medium income families. People-in-need don't fit in the same stereotype they did years ago."
New to the event this year for contributors is a $5,000 cash raffle.
