Christmas Bonuses & Hobbs' Property @ City Council Meeting
Paving on Carrollton's "Hobb's Property Road," off of Rome Street could begin soon, after Carrollton City Council approves allowing City Manager Casey Coleman to pursue using county inmate labor for the job. Coleman estimates county laborers would cost approx. $550,000 compared to a previous business estimate of more than $800,000. He says funding will come from GDOT and 2008 SPLOST funding.
Coleman says the Hobbs Farm Nature Park property includes a parking lot for about sixty cars and that the new road would allow for school bus access.
Carrollton City employees will get Christmas bonuses in 2011 following unanimous approval from City Council Monday. Coleman says, "This is the fourth year in a row the city has been unable to offer raises." He believes the city can "make it up" in the budget, citing sales tax revenue increasing slightly for four consecutive months.
Full-time city employees receive a $1,000 Christmas bonus and those with "non-permanent status" receive a $500 tip.
