Villa Rica city officials wrap up an effort to help clean up the cloudy water making it’s way into city homes and businesses. Utilities Distribution Manager Richard Reid says teams have been flushing hydrants throughout the city to help rid the system of excess manganese that appears to be causing a problem for some.
Reid says the city has taken multiple calls praising improvements to the water’s appearance, throughout the flushing process. "It's really only a temporary fix," says Reid. "We'll likely have to flush the system again this time next year... unless some other fixes can be made."
Villa Rica city council is currently considering turning management of the city water system over to an outside group. The group pledges to make necessary improvements to the facility.
