The radical Topeka, Kansas church group known for picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers, with anti-Semitic and anti-homosexuality signs and chants, announced this week that they will be attending the funeral of a fallen Winston Marine Sunday. In a press release Wednesday, the group declares “God hates America and is killing our troops in his wrath.”
Westboro Baptist Church’s strong stance against homosexuality prompted the group’s leader to declare in the past that “the lord is punishing this evil nation for abandoning all moral imperatives that are worth a dime.” The independent group claims their message is “to be preached in respectful, lawful proximity” to the local soldier’s memorial at Ephesus Baptist church in Villa Rica.
Douglas County law officials are said to be preparing in case needed and Marines in attendance are being reminded to “remain professional at all times.”
