Washington, D.C.—Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D. (GA-11) released the following statement in response to the collapse of the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act Program.
“Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that the Department of Health and Human Services would not move forward with implementation of the CLASS Act program—a clear victory for the American taxpayer.
“During this economic crisis, Congress must focus on eliminating the waste and fraud already present in our Medicare system before implementing unnecessary programs that cannot function without massive taxpayer bailouts. I am pleased that the Department of Health and Human Services has finally recognized the insolvency of the CLASS Program.”
