The Carroll County Chamber Women's Business Alliance has selected Susan Lester, Vice President, Member Services of Carroll EMC, as the 2011 Professional Woman of the Year during their fall event Thursday evening. The WBA award is based on professional and civic contributions made to the Carroll County community. Lester was chosen from a slate of 13 nominees including Charity Aaron, CSB; Amy Brown, State Farm Ins.; Amanda Camp, Carroll Co. CASA; Dawn Cook, WGTC; Jill Duncan, State Farm Ins.; April Harris, The Squire Shop; Edie Haney, FOGO Data Center; Sue Horn, STAR News; Wendy Lucio, Greenway Medical; Kelly Meigs, Tanner Health System; Alicia Michael, Carrollton Collision Center; and Martha A. Saunders, FERST Found.
Susan Lester has served eight years in the electric coop industry currently serving as Carroll EMC's Vice President of Member Services. She is a graduate of the University of West Georgia's Richards College of Business and held positions with Emory University and Georgia Tech. Lester is a member of the Bremen Rotary Club and Christ Fellowship Church. She is active with many other organizations and activities, including the Carroll County Foster Parents Association. She and her husband Seth live in Carrollton with their daughters Madison, Haven and Hannah.
The WBA evening event, 'A Professional Check Up', was held at Sunset Hills Country Club and included a panel discussion of legal, insurance and financial planning issues. The program's presenters were Sheila Butler, Sheila J. Butler and Co., Bunchie Engel, Garrett & Robinson Investment and Linda Parmer, Shadrix Lane, PC. The evening was sponsored by Georgia Power, Southwire and West Georgia Center for Plastic Surgery.
