Committee Seeks UWG VP Replacement

Dr. Michael Ruffner will no longer serve as Vice-President of Advancement for the University of West Georgia after the first week of February 2012, according to a letter sent to UWG faculty by University President Dr. Behruz Sethna Wednesday.

Ruffner was the focus of a civil suit brought against the University System of Georgia earlier this year, that alleged an employee was terminated for “blowing the whistle” on illegal activities.

In Dr. Sethna’s notice yesterday, he thanks Ruffner for his service, “particularly for his leadership on the NCAA investigation and the branding campaign.”

Sethna has charged a search committee to help find the next VP for University Advancement and says “the hope is to identify the next VPUA very early in the spring semester so that the transition can be a smooth one.”
