The 67-year-old Clem man accused of murdering his son-in-law this week, is told that he could face the death penalty, during his first appearance in court yesterday. Clyde Henry Puckett rested in a wheel-chair Tuesday afternoon as Magistrate Judge Alton Johnson told him that because of the severity of the charge, Puckett would not be eligible for bond. Puckett responded, by saying he expected the ruling.
Puckett is accused of shooting to death 40 year old Michael Shane Barber in the victim’s home Sunday evening. Investigators say the two have had an ongoing feud for years.
The pre-liminary hearing for this case is scheduled for November 10th and a grand jury indictment could come in January 2012.
