Qualifying Continues For D28 Senate Seat

At least six people are declaring themselves candidates for the open Georgia State Senate seat, vacated by Mitch Seabaugh this month. Of those six, WLBB News is not aware of any potential candidates from Carroll County.

Candidates must live in the 28th District, which includes all of Coweta and Heard counties and portions of Troup and Carroll counties. Qualifying continues through Thursday.

District changes based on 2010 census numbers are scheduled to affect this particular seat  in January 2013 and the person elected this November would have to run again in 2012 to maintain representation of the district.
