Beginning on Monday, the roundabout on Newnan Road will see use as traffic will be directed around the circle for the first time since its construction was approved by the Carroll County Board of Commissioners last year.
Work will continue on the intersection--where Newnan Road meets Olympic Drive--for several more weeks.
On Monday, an officer will be stationed at the intersection for a portion of the day to help guide traffic.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, roundabouts significantly reduce congestion and delays as vehicles are not required to perform a complete stop. They’re also statistically safer than intersections that feature a stop light.
