A UWG student from Acworth is fatally injured and a 23-year old Allenhurst woman charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, and failing to yield following a 2-vehicle accident on Lovvorn Road in Carrollton early Saturday afternoon. According to Georgia State Patrol Public Information Officer, Gordy Wright the crash involving a 2006 Nissan Maxima and a motorcycle occurred shortly before noon near the entrance of the UWG Stadium. Wright says the Maxim a, driven by 23-year old Gloria Faith Dupree made a left turn from the westbound lane of Lovvorn and into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle was being operated by Matthew Benjamin Dyas, age 20, from Carrollton. Dyas died in the crash.
Dupree has been charged with first degree vehicular homicide, DUI, and failing to yield while turning left. She was taken to the Carroll County Jail. The impact was on the Nissan's passenger side.
