The first multi-species meat processing facility in the United States now has a name, location and ground-breaking date confirmed. UGA Extension Agent with the Carroll County Ag Center, Bill Hodge says a core group is meeting on a weekly basis, most recently talking with a widely recognized animal behavioral scientist on humane animal handling in the animal meat industry. Hodge says the facility named Chatta-Creek Meats, Inc.will be built in the industrial park in Bowdon. He says a business structure is coming together and there will be a public offering of stock at some point.
Hodge says groundbreaking for the Chatta-Creek Meats multi-species meat processing facility is planned for the spring of 2012.
