Bowdon city Mayor Jim Watts says the anticipated new meat processing plant will soon make its home in Bowdon. The processing plant is designed to be a "green" plant in which all the animal by-products are recycled and processed in such a way as to not adversely effect the environment. The facility will provide quality meat to restaraunts and grocery stores within a 100 mile radius of the city of Bowdon; reaching as far as Columbus, Birmingham and Atlanta.
The processing facility at this point is a solid concept with capital ready to go, but the logistics of who will operate it and where have yet to be determined.
This particular type of meat processing plant will be the second of its kind in the world, preceeded by a similar facility in New Zealand.
