Local Author Describes America If Confederacy Had Won Civil War

"Clopton's Short History of the Confederate States of America" by Carole Scott chronicles history through the eyes of Confederate historians

CARROLLTON, Ga. (MMD Newswire) September 12, 2011 - - Carole Scott's "Clopton's Short History of the Confederate States of America" (ISBN 1463584539) is a fictional history of America had the Confederacy won the Civil War. Its readers will learn what life could have been like in today's fifty states if the Confederate states had gained independence from the United States.

Scott's book is written in the form of an easy to read textbook. According to the author, what makes this book different from other alternative, counterfactual works is that, rather than describing how American history would have been transformed if only one thing had turned out differently - such as a Confederate victory at Gettysburg - several initial changes are made so that the ramifications of several variances from reality can be explored.

In addition to including events and situations that didn't occur ¬- but could have - Scott describes real events from a point of view different from what a reader might see in factual history books because they are told from the point of view of a Confederate historian. Many of the issues included in Scott's book are still important and controversial today. The first chapter of her book covers factual U.S. history, but in addition to being viewed differently, some events will be unfamiliar to most readers because textbooks often ignore them. Scott's book also includes a nonfiction appendix that tells about the activities and views of a number of Northerners and Southerners born both before and after the Civil War.

"Clopton's Short History of the Confederate States of America" is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
